Summer Reading for all ages

Make a Splash - READ!

Charleston County Public Library's summer reading program is for children ages 11 and younger. Enjoy this FREE program at any of our locations during June and July. Upon registration, children receive a summer reading log to keep track of time read, or time read to. When each level is completed, turn in for fantastic prizes!

15 hours ~ choose a Charleston Battery soccer or Carolina Ice Palace passand a ticket to the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry or a Carolina Karate prize

30 hours ~
T-shirt, entry in the Make a Splash - READ! Grand Prize Drawing and entry in the Community of Readers Home Library Prize Drawing

One award per child, per category, while supplies last.

Make Waves Teen Summer Reading Contest
Students entering grades 6 – 12

This summer, read something - a book, magazine, newspaper, graphic novel, website: ANYTHING! Then, stop by any branch of the Charleston County Public Library. Fill out an entry form and drop it in the prize box or enter online beginning June 1st. You will automatically be entered into that week's prize drawing.

You will win free fries or ice cream from
McDonald's just for entering!

The more you read, the more chances you have to win.

Weekly Prize Drawings
Winners will receive prizes including: gift cards for iTunes and bookstores, free passes to area attractions like Carolina Ice Palace and Whirlin' Waters and other Charleston County water parks.

Read 800 pages (Don't worry, we'll keep track for you.)
You will win a free Value Meal from McDonald's, a Make Waves T-shirt and entry into the Grand Prize Drawing at your local CCPL branch library.

Grand Prize Drawings (read 800+ pages to qualify)
Each participating CCPL branch library will hold a Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the summer. Prizes vary by location (minimum $50 value).

2010 Adult Summer Reading Program

Official Rules:
  • Entry forms will be available at any of the Charleston County Public Library branches or online at this web address beginning June 1st.
  • Complete one entry form for a book that you have read. Leave the form at the branch or submit it online to be eligible for the weekly drawing. Multiple forms may be filled out weekly, but only one per book.
  • Weekly drawings will be held on Fridays beginning June 11, with the final drawing on July 30. A grand prize winner will be selected in August.
  • Must be 18 or older to enter.
  • Contestants need not be present to win.
  • Employees of the Charleston County Public Library are not eligible.

Each week one lucky winner will be drawn at each branch to win one of the following prizes.

$10 gift certificate to Blockbuster Video
$10 gift certificate to Sticky Fingers Restaurants
$10 gift certificate to the Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale
$10 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble

$10 gift certificate to Target

Grand Prize Package:

Win a basket of culinary delights from Maverick Southern Kitchens, which includes
a $75 gift card, cookbooks and more! A gift card for $50 of gasoline is also included in the Grand Prize Package.
